Delhi 6 - Utmost disappointment...

Utmost disappointment, I must say...

Having been born and brought up in Delhi, quite obviously, I love the city. And a very big part of my childhood is spent in the walled city itself, as my Nanihaal (maternal parents' home) is right there in Chandni Chowk, so, it was a must-see for me... However, I did not find Delhi 6 concentrating on Walled City, at all... Only a couple of scenes are good, and they can be called capturing the essence of the city... A Muslim guy ties a red cloth around Abhishek's ailing Dadiji (Waheeda Rehman) and says, “Hanuman ji sab theek kar denge...” And the second one is of hundreds of Muslims praying at Jumma (Jama) Masjid...

And remember, it has proved one more time, that you just can not take a look at 'Dilli 6' in a small story in two-and-a-half-hours... 'Dilli 6' ko jaan-ne aur samajhne ke liye poori zindagi bhi kam padti hai... Chandni Chowk se bahut kareeb ka rishta hai, isliye kuchh emotional ho jaata hoon... Yahan ke log, yahan ke logo ke rishte, yahan ke logo ka khaan-paan, meljol ki aadatein - kuchh bhi to nahin tha film mein... And that 'Kala Bandar' (the black monkey) was ridiculous, that actually made the story of the film...

Though must congratulate Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for introducing India to a Hindu or a Muslim Monkey... 'Maha-bakwaas' is all I can say, where 'Maha-bakwaas' is about the treatment given to the subject and the plot... The movie could have been far better on the same storyline... None impresses with the acting skills either...
